The Significance of Monitoring the Blood Pressure after Exercise in Aged Patients with Hypertension

Abstract

Objective:To study the change of blood pressure after exercise in aged patients with hypertension.Method:48 aged patients with hypertension and 40 aged normotensive controls exercised on a treadmill.After that the blood pressure was monitored and the change was investigated.Results: Hypertensive subjects manifested a greater increase in systolic pressure compared with normotensive controls,but the change of diastolic pressure was not obvious and had no statistical significance.Conclusion: The blood pressure after exercise was still higher in hypertensive patients after effective treatment,and the variance was greater than that in controls.Monitoring the change of blood pressure is of great clinical value in either anticipating the risk or judging the curative effect of hypertension in aged patients.
