Abstract
Objective To observe the effect of antihypertensive agents on exercise blood pressure of the patients with primary hypertension. Methods Treadmill tests were performed in 126 patients with primary hypertension and in 40 cases with normal blood pressure (control group),the changes of blood pressure and heart rate of them were observed. In 126 hypertensive patients,98 patients (medicated group) were treated by antihypertensive agents(the resting blood pressure had been controlled in 35 cases),and 28 patients were not medicated (non-medicated group). Results The incidences of exercise hypertension in medicated group and non-medicated group were proximate (49.5% vs 42.8%).The level of exercise blood pressure of the patients whose resting blood pressure had been controlled was lower than that of the patients whose resting blood pressure had not been controlled. Conclusion The incidence of exercise hypertension in the hypertensive patients whose resting blood pressure had not been contrlled is higher.Treadmill test is one of the methods to evalute the hypotensor effect.
