Abstract
Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of warm needling on simple obesity of spleen deficiency and dampness encumbrance type. Methods Eighty patients with simple obesity of spleen deficiency and dampness encumbrance type were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups,40 cases each. The treatment group was treated by warm needling plus diet control, and the control group was simply given diet control.Thirty days made up one course of treatment. The therapeutic effects were evaluated and body weight indices were examined after two courses of treatment. Results The total efficacy rate was 80.0% in the treatment group and 12.5% in the control group. There was a significant difference in the total efficacy rate between the two groups(P0.01).In the treatment group, there were statistical pre-/post-treatment differences in body weight, waistline and hip circumference(P0.05) and BMI decreased significantly after treatment(P0.01).Conclusion Warm needling plus diet control is superior to simple diet control in treating simple obesity of spleen deficiency and dampness encumbrance type.
