Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of Du-Ren meridians-unblocking and regulating plus spleen-reinforcing and dampness-removing acupuncture in treating spleen deficiency-type obesity. Methods Sixty patients were enrolled and randomly allocated to a Du-Ren meridians-unblocking and regulating plus spleen-reinforcing and dampness-removing group and a conventional spleen-reinforcing and dampness-removing group.Spleen deficiency symptoms and signs, the spleen deficiency score, body weight, the body mass index, waist circumference, hip circumference, thigh circumference and the fat coefficient were examined in the patients before and after treatment. Results The spleen deficiency score decreased in both groups after treatment(P0.05) and there was a statistically significant between-group difference(P0.05).The total efficacy rate was 93.3% in the treatment group and 86.7% in the control group and there was a statistically significant between-group difference(P0.05).Conclusion Du-Ren meridians-unblocking and regulating plus spleen-reinforcing and dampness-removing acupuncture has a marked therapeutic effect on spleen deficiency-type obesity.
