Abstract

Objective To explore the efficacy, technique and complication of endovascular embolization in intracranial aneurysms with Matrix detachable coils. Methods Forty five patients with 47 intracranial aneurysms had been treated by Matrix Detachable Coils embolization. Results All aneurysms were successfully embolized by the endovascular procedure with a complete occlusion in 33 aneurysms,95% occlusion in 10,90% occlusion in 3 and less than 80% occlusion in 1.Follow-up cerebral angiography demonstrated an enlargement of the remnant cavity in 3 aneurysms with initial incomplete occlusions.Five cases suffered from complications relative to the procedure, including 2 aneurysm rupture,1 acute cerebral angiospasm and 2 over embolization during the procedure. Conclusion Matrix detachable coils embolization is a safe modality for the treatment of intracranial aneurysm, follow-up cerebral angiography is essential for evaluation of its efficacy.
