Abstract

The tar, nicotine, carbon monoxide in flue cured tobacco leaves of Henan Province,Zimbabwe and Brazil was detected, and the correlation of filling power, static burning rate, reducing sugar, total nitrogen, nicotine, sulfate, organic potassium to the harmful component in the smoke were analyzed. The results showed that the content of harmful components in flue-cured tobacco smoke of Henan Province were higher than that of Zimbabwe and Brazil, especially in the leaves of the middle of Henan Province. In physical properties of tobacco leaves, the correlation of filling power to harmful component was not significant,But the correlation between static burning rate and harmful components was observed significantly.Harmful components were significantly negatively correlated with potassium oxide, organic potassium, ratio of reducing sugar to nicotine, and ratio of potassium to chlorine, while significantly positively correlated with nicotine, chlorine and sulfate.Factors related to combustibility had evident effects on harmful components amounts.
