Abstract
The delivery of tar, nicotine, and carbon monoxide in the smoke of flue\|cured tobacco grown in Henan province, Zimbabwe, and Brazil was determined, and the correlation of the leaf componets, such as reducing sugar, total nitrogen, nicotine, sulfate, and organic potassium with the smoke components was analyzed. The results showed that contents of the smoke components in Henan province flue\|cured tobacco were higher than that in Zimbabwe and Brazil, especially in the cutter leaves. The correlation between reducing sugar and the smoke components was not significant and the correlation of nicotine and organic potassium with the smoke components was negative significantly. The ratio of reducing sugar to nicotine and potassium to chlorine in tobacco leaves was negatively correlated with the smoke components significantly. In contrast, chlorine and sulfate with the smoke components was positively correlated significantly. These results indicated that the effects of the factors relating to the combustibility of the tobacco leaves on the smoke components were significant.
