Abstract
Objective To observe the effect of intestinal flora adjustment after interventional therapy for liver cancer on liver function and endotoxin. Methods Sixty liver cancer patients receiving interventional therapy were randomly divided into experimental group( n = 30) and control group( n = 30). Both groups had conventional treatment after the therapy while experimental group took probiotics in addition. aspartate transaminase( AST),alanine aminotransferase( ALT) and endotoxin levels before and after the therapy were compared between two groups. Results No difference in AST,ALT and endotoxin levels before the therapy was observed in two groups( P 0. 05). After the therapy,AST,ALT and endotoxin levels in experimental group were all significantly lower than those in control group [( 99. 4 ± 8. 8) IU /L vs( 185.7 ±13.6) IU/L,( 104.7 ±8.9) IU/L vs( 156.8 ±15.8) IU/L,( 95.8 ±4.8) ng/L vs( 184.7 ±14.8) ng/L,all P 0. 05]. Conclusion Intestinal flora adjustment after interventional treatment for liver cancer can significantly improve liver function and reduce endotoxin level.
