Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of BiPAP ventilation in the treatment of COPD with Type 2 respiratory failure. Methods Thirty cases of COPD with Type 2 respiratory failure were divided into two groups: ventilation group(n=15) and contrast group(n=15).The contrast group was given anti-infection,clean airway, continuously inhaling low concentration oxygen with ventilation improvement. The ventilation group was treated with BiPAP ventilation in addition to the regular therapy. Results In the ventilation group,PaO2 increased significantly after being ventilated 1 hour.PaO2 decreased significantly and acidosis improved after being ventilated for 72 hours. However, there were 3 cases(20.0%) who needed trachea cannula, while in the contrast group there were 11 cases(73.3%).Conclusion BiPAP ventilation has good effect on COPD cases with Type 2 respiratory failure.
