Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of nursing midwifery intervention on mode of delivery and duration of labor in elderly pregnant women. Methods 342 elderly lying-in woman who were admitted to our hospital were randomly divided into two groups. The control group( n = 171) was given routine care and guidance, and the intervention group( n = 171) was given one-on-one nursing midwifery intervention in preantepartum, intrapartum and postpartum. Delivery risk assessment and gratification management was also used. The mode of delivery, duration of labor and postpartum hemorrhage were observed and analyzed. Results There was significant difference on mode of delivery between the two groups( P 0. 05). Compared with control group, the first, second stage and total labor duration in intervention group were remarkably shortened( P 0. 05). The rate of postpartum hemorrhage of intervention group was 1. 8%,significantly lower than that in control group,5. 8%( P 0. 05). Conclusions Nursing midwifery intervention can reduce the rate of cesarean section, reduce the risk of postpartum hemorrhage, and ensure the safety of maternal and infant to the limits.
