Analysis of the Confucian Spirit and Modernism of Huizhou Merchants in Ming and Qing Dynasties——With Benevolence,Righteousness,Propriety,Wisdom,and Faith as Core

Since Song and Yuan Dynasties,continuous winning empirical examination,gathering of talents,and unique regional culture earned Huizhou a fine reputation as Southeast Zoulu and State of Literature.During the centuries between the middle of the Ming Dynasty and the late Qing Dynasty merchants from Huizhou were active in business,and its unique Confucian spirit was profoundly influential.The study on the thoughts of Confucianism of the merchants in Ming and Qing Dynasties is helpful for the understanding the society and economy at that time.The Confucian thought of the merchants from Huizhou provides certain reference for the development of modern society.With time defined in Ming and Qing Dynasties,space confined in one prefecture and six counties,and with the merchants from Huizhou as the research object,a study is carried out on their Confucian spirit from five perspectives such as benevolence,righteousness,propriety,wisdom and faith.
