Abstract

Objective To study the efficacy of salmeterol/fluticasone propionate(Seretide) and tiotropium inhalation capsules in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods 76 patients with stable COPD were randomly divided into 2 groups.38 patients in treatment group(seretide + tiotropium),They were given Seretide(250 g/50 g) inhaling twice daily and tiotropium bromide(18 g) inhaling once daily.38 patients in control group,They were given Seretide(250 g/50 g) inhaling twice daily. The treatment was last for 12 weeks. Before and after the cause of treatment,Arterial blood gas and lung function of the two groups were examined and compared respectively. Results 72 patients completed the study. The improvement of effective rate, arterial blood gas and lung function in treatment group are better than the control group. No adverse reaction during treatment. Conclusion The combination of seretide and tiotropium can obviously improve clinical symptoms and lung function of the patients with stable COPD.The effects of combination of seretide and tiotropium is better than only seretide.
