Abstract

The present paper dealt with three new monogenetic trematodes of the family Polystoma-tidae, belonging separately to Polystomatinae Gamble, 1896 and Diplorchiinae Tamaguti, 1963. Type specimens are deposited in the Parasitology Research Laboratory, Biology Department, East Chinia Normal University.1.Polystoma leucomystax sp. nov. (fig. 1)Host Rhacophorus Leucomystax (Gravenhorst).Habitat: urinary bladder. Locality: Hangzhou (30°l7′N,120°9′E) Zhejiang Province. The incidence is about 2-3% and the intensity varies from 1 to 2. Description is based on 5 specimens.Body length 6.665-8.514 (average 7.568) mm, width 2.542-3.311 (2.732) mm; opisthaptor 0.753?.989×1.355?.040 (0.824×1.693) mm; six haptoral suckers 0.207?.356 (0.289) mm; hamuli 0.260?.410 (0.332) mm long by 0.153-0:222 (0.181) mm broad at the base; oral sucker 0.164?.364×0.194?.424 (0.261 × 0.392) mm; pharynx 0.219?.286×0,19,4?.246 (0.252 ×0.216) mm; testis occupying entire ventral postovarian area of the body proper; cirrus bulb 0.075?.080×0.069?.076 mm, with 8 spines;ovary 0,451?.683×0.191?.294 (0.608×0.259) mm; no egg exists in specimens collected in June.' Remarks. This new species differs from other species of genus Polystoma in the host, in the smaller opisthaptor comparing to its larger body proper, in the reticular caeca and also in the hamuli without a deep slit at the base and a crest-like projection near the base of claw.2.Diplorchis hangzhouensis sp. nov. (fig. 2)Host: Rana guentheri Boulenger.Habitat: Urinary bladder.Locality; Hangzhou (30°17′N, 120° 9′E), Zhejiang Province. The incidence is about 23% and the intensity varies from 1 to 15. Description is based on 16 specimens. Body 3.225-9.137×1.321-2.950 (5.617×2.101) mm; oristhaptor 0.516-1.550×1.109-2.279 (0.977×1.683) mm; six haptoral suckers 0.205-2.506 (0.368) mm; hamuli with a deep divided base, 0.271-0.480 (0.433) mm long by 0.127-0.208 (0.168) mm broad at the base; three kinds of booklets exist: (according to Llewellyn, 1963) hook 1 0.039-0.044mm, hook Ⅷ 0.027-0.031 mm, hook Ⅱ-Ⅶ 0.019-0.022 mm; oral sucker 0.134-0.246×0.218-0.355 (0.164 ×0.281)mm; pharynx 0.123-0.232×0.107-0.205 (0.186×0.168) mm; testis 1.851-2.069×0.731-0.820 (1.914×0.783) mm;cirrus bulb 0.061×0.076 mm, bearing 8-9 spines approximately 22-30 (26)μm in lenth; ovary 0.328-0.714×0.137-0.344 (0.516×0.212) mm; vaginal swelling is not remarkable, its connecting line in the middle divides the body into 1:2.9?.2 (1:3.3); eggs numerous, yellow to bright orange, measuring 0.191-0.246×0.116-0.144 (0.214×0.125) mm.Remarks: Only two species of Diplorchis have so far been recorded in science: D. ranae Ozaki, 1931 in Rana rugosa from Japan and D. nigromaculata Lee, 1936 in R. nigromaculata from China. This species described here differs from the two species in two distinct points: (1) the host is R. guentheri; (2) three kinds hooklets exist. Otherwise, it differs from D. ranae also in the number of Spines (10?1 in the latter) and the size of eggs (0,17-0.19×0:08-0.10 mm in the latter); it differs from D. nigromaculata also in more anterior place of vaginal swel-ling.3. Diplorchis latouchii sp. nov. (fig. 3)Host: Rana latouchii Boulenger.Habitat: Urinary bladder.Locality:,Hangzhou (30°17′N, 120°9′E), Zehjiang ProvinceThe overall incidence (62 hosts) is about 22.4% (10 Out of 40 male frons infected, incidence: 25%; 4 out of 22 female frogs infected, incidence: 18.2%). The intensity varies from 1 to 10. Description is based on 12 specimens.Body elongate, total length 2.580?.858 (4.423)mm, maximum width 1.105-2.302 (1.570) mm; opisthaptor 0.688-1.591×1.036-2.352 (1.193×1.780) mm; six haptoral suckers 0.232-0.523 (0.396) mm; hamuli 0.273-?0.485 (0:385) mm long by 0.137-2.234 (0.183) mm broad at the base with a shallow slit; oral sucker 0.179-0.314×0.246-0.383 (0.228-0.324) mm; pharynx 0.174-0.253×0.122-0.205 (0.211×0.173) mm; testis 1.517-1.843×0.535-0.642 (1.650×0.615) mm; cirrus bearing 7-8 spines approximately 27μm in length; ovary 0.32.8.793×0.150-0.348 (0.567×0.228) mm; obviou
