Differential Expression of E-cadherin and Martrix Metalloproteinase-2 Genes Associated with the Invasion and Metastasis of Tumor Cell in Human Gastric Cancer

Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of E cadherin and Martrix metalloproteinase 2(MMP 2) in human gastric cancer and their relationship with tumor cell invasion and metastasis.Methods The expressions of E cadherin and Matrix metalloproteinase 2 in gastric mucosa were detected in 20 cases of healthy control group,83 cases of gastric cancer by using streptavidin peroxidase immunohistochemistry.Results All of normal gastric mucosa abundantly expressed E cadherin,but did not express MMP 2.The incidences of E cadherin and MMP 2 expressed were 16 9% and 78 3% respectively in the gastric cancer group.The related factors with E cadherin expression reduced were lower differentiation,deep invaded,invaded growth and lymphaden metastasis of gastric cancer cell.The related factors with MMP 2 expression were the differentiation degree,lymphaden metastasis,deep invaded,invaded growth and TNM stage of gastric cancer.The non related factors with E cadherin expression reduced were the TNM stage and the size of gastric cancer.The non related factor with MMP 2 expression was the size of gastric cancer.Conclusions The expressions of E cadherin and MMP 2 are significantly related with the invading and transferring of gastric cancer.The changes of the two factors expressing can help the judgment of the prognosis of gastric cancer.
