Abstract

Sixteen healthy Lohmann Brown roosters and layers of 27-week-age were divided into two groups with 8 replicates each group for 1 bird per replicate. They were fed with two diets for nitrogen-free diet(NFD)and NFD+5% casein diet to evaluate the difference of endogeous amino acid losses(EAAL)for roosters and layers. The results showed that the endogenous amino acid and protein losses for roosters and layers were different by the method of the NFD and NFD+5% casein. The NFD+5%casein could improve the endogenous nitrogen and endogenous amino acid losses, and the results for NFD+5%casein were closer to the true circumstance of birds. And endogenous nitrogen and amino acid losses for roosters were higher than those for layers.
