Abstract

Ouyang Xiu found the contradictions in Preface to Book of Songs and denied the traditional view that the Preface was written by Zixia. It started people's skepticism of the Preface in the Song Dynasty, breaking the deadlock of the study of Book of Songs since the Han Dynasty. At the same time, Ouyang Xiu made defence to the Preface, which was one of the reasons that Original Meaning of the Book of Songs had few influences on the later generations.
