Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of microRNA-200a in epithelial ovarian cancer. Methods The expressions of miR-200a in 40 epithelial ovarian cancer and 30 benign ovarian epithelial tumors were examined by stem-loop real-time RT-PCR.The correlations between the expression of miR-200a and clinicopathologic features(FIGO stage, pathological type, histological grading and lymphatic metastasis) were further analyzed. Results The expression of miR-200a was significantly higher in epithelial ovarian cancer than in benign ovarian epithelial tumors, but it was lower in advanced ovarian cancer than at early stage. Conclusion miR-200a may play a role as an oncogene in epithelial ovarian cancer, and is possibly correlated with the progression and metastasis at advanced stage.
