Investigation on mental health of university freshmen

Objective To understand the status of the freshmen's mental health in order to carry out mental health education,mental consultation and therapy effectively.Methods A total of 5 674 freshmen were surveyed for their mental health by using UPI.Results Among the freshmen,12.89% of them had serious mental problems,and 26.74% of them had a few psychological problems.There were no significant differences between the male and female.However,the female had more physical,sentiment and interpersonal relation problems.Conclusions Generally,the mental health status in freshmen is well,but there are still some problems.Thus the mental health education and psychological consulting services should start as soon as the students enter the university.
