Abstract

Objective To explore the feasibility and significance of the Method with Vicryl mesh for treating traumatic ruptured spleen. Methods From October 1999 to September 2005,21 cases with traumatic rupture of spleen received Vicryl mesh procedure were analyzed retrospectively.According to the Buntain classification of CT-graded splenic injury,4 cases were classified as type Ⅰ,10 cases as type II and 7 cases as type Ⅲ.Combined other organ injuries had 8 cases. Results The operation was completed successfully in 21 cases. The operative time was 50~150 min(mean,86 min).2 cases were transferred to perform re-operation of splenectomy because of postoperative massive bleeding.Postoperative time to normal activities was 20~30 days in 13 cases of simple ruptured spleen and 30~100 days in 8 cases of ruptured spleen combined with other injuries. Conclusions Vicryl mesh procedure is a feasible mathod in the treatment of traumatic rupture of spleen. It is suitable for type Ⅰ,Ⅱ or Ⅲ ruptured spleen and without severe combined injuries.
