Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of the spleen neoplasty in situ with absorable vicryl mesh in the treatment of traumatic splenic rupture. Methods The spleen neoplasty in situ were performed on patients with traumatic splenic rupture by absorable vicryl mesh. The effective rate of the operation and the survive rate of the reserved spleen were followed up.Results The operation of spleen neoplasty in situ was succeeded in all 35 cases, and the reserved spleen was absorbed naturally in 1 case and removed due to infection in left subphrenic space. No any severe complications were found in all cases. The rate of reservation of traumatic spleen was 71% of all splenic rupture in the corresponding period, and the survive rate of the reserved spleen was 94% of all spleen neoplasty. Some immunological indexes were increased temporarily after the operation and recovered to normal level in a short time. Conclusion The spleen neoplasty in situ with absorbable vicryl mesh is a safe and reliable operative method for splenic rupture. This technique can be used in some spleen rupture of Ⅳ level. The rate of reservation of traumatic spleen and the survive rate of the reserved spleen by this technique were higher than by other methods of spleen neoplasty.
