Abstract

Translation of the books is one of the main cause of Westernization Group in the Westernization Movement. And Christian missionaries are the main force. They introduced the modern textbooks to westernization schools and made them more standardized and scientific. On the other hand, they propagated western science and technology actively, edited and translated western books, which affected the changes of the notion of Chinese scholastic class and the social value. What they had done promoted westernization education to the depth and accelerated the disintegration of the imperial examination system.
