Abstract
In the present paper, seven species of Leptomias collected from Xizang (Tibet) ate described as new to science. All Type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology and in the Northwest Plateau Institute of Biology, Academia Sinica.1. Leptomias chaoi, sp. nov. This new species belongs to longicollis species-group, and is allied to L, longicollis Chao, but differs in body colour being black, median stria of rostrum reaching the middle of front, and corbels open. Male aedeagus as shown in fig. 1. Length 6.8-9.8 mm.Holotype , allotype , paratypes 2 1 , Xizang (Baxo), 16. VIII. 1977, by Li Ji-jun; paratypes 2, Qinghai (Jigzhi), 24. VII. 1974, by Wang Zu-xiang.2. Leptomias nubilus, sp. nov. This new species also belongs to longicollis species-group and is closed to L. opacus Chao. Distinguished by the rostrum being parallel-sided, prothorax without an antero-late-ral tubercle, and fore tibia denticulated internally. Male aedeagus as shown in fig. 2. Length 6.5-8.0mm.Holotype , paratype 1, Xizang (Markam), 15. IX. 1977, by Li Ji-jun.3. Leptomias niger, sp. nov. This new species belongs to longisetosus species-group, and is closely related to L. cla-vicrus Marshall. But well distinguished by the body with gloss; hairs of dorsal surface brown, short and sparse; fore tibia not expanded externally at apex. Male aedeagus as shown in fig. 3. Length 10.5 mm.Holotype , Xizang (Yadong), 7. VI. 1977, by Li Ji-jun.4. Leptomias parvilatus, sp. nov. This new species belongs to odontoncnemus species-group, and is closed to L, latus Chao. Differs in the small-sized body, the equal breadth of prothorax and elytra at base, and the almost rounded elytra. Male aedeagus as shown in fig. 4. Length 5.2-6.8 mm.Holotype , allotype , paratypes 1 1 Xizang (Lhasa), 24, V. 1973. paraty-pes 8 , same locality, 21. V. 1973; by Li Ji-jun and Yin Xiang-chu.5. Leptomias orbiculatus, sp. nov. This new species also belongs to odontoncnemus species-group, and is closely related to L. parvilatus. But well distinguished by the prothorax with a pointed antero-lateral tubercle, hairs of dorsal surface short and recumbent, and fore tibia in male not expanded externally at apex and in female slightly expanded. Male aedeagus as shown in fig. 5. Length 5.6-6.4 mm.Holotype , allotype , Xizang (Lhasa), 24. V. 1973, by Li Ji-jun.6. Leptomias rubiginosus, sp. nov. This new species belongs to squamosetosus species-group, and is closed to L. submar-ginatus Chao. But distinguished by the glittering scales, the hairs of dorsal surface short and sparse, and the odd interval of elytra not raised conspicuously. Male aedeagus as shown in fig. 6. Length 4.4-5.6 mm.Holotype , allotype , paratypes 2, Xizang (Baxo), 16. VIII. 1973, by Li Ji-jun.7. Leptomias uniseries, sp. nov. This new species also belongs to squamosetosus species-group, and is closed to L. ele-ctus Chao. But well distinguished by the body being clothed on each interval of elytra with a single row of scale-like hairs, the apex of which is truncate; the sides of prothorax and the ventrites without feather-like scales. Male aedeagus as shown in fig. 7. Length 3.6-4.1mm.Holotype and allotype , Xizang (Bomi), 8. VI. 1973, by Li-ji jun; paratypes 2, Xizang (Bomi), 13. VI. 1973, 20. VI. 1973, by Li Ji-jun.
