Abstract
Objective To learn about the correlation between sleep quality and sub-health status of clinical nurses. Methods Using Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) and self-rating sub-health scale,we investigated the sleep quality and sub-health status among clinical nurses in a municipal hospital. Results The average PSQI of 307 nurses is(5.78±3.23).215 nurses(70.0%) are in sub-healthy condition, with PSQI of(6.55±3.26),showing a significant difference when compared with the healthy group(4.04±2.38,P0.005).The number of nurses whose PSQI score ≤4 is 109﹙35.5%),4-8 is 123(40.1%),and ≥8 is 75(24.4%).In the sub-healthy nurses,55(25.6%) with relative good sleep,90(41.9%) with bad sleep, and 70(32.5%) with the worst sleep condition, while in the healthy nurses, they are 48(59.3%),28(34.6%),and 5(6.1%),respectively.The main factors of bad sleep are sleep quality, sleep time, bed time, and sleep disorders. Conclusion The sleep problem among nurses is one of the important factors causing sub-health status. They should improve sleep quality to improve their health conditions.
