Incidence of Malignancies in 2006 in Zhongshan City,Guangdong Province

[Purpose]To explore the incidence of malignancies in Zhongshan,and to provide scientific basis for cancer prevention and treatment in Zhongshan.[Methods]The incidence of malignant tumors of Zhongshan in 2006 from Zhongshan Cancer Registry were collected.The number of new cancer cases,crude incidence,China and world standardized incidence,proportion of incidence were calculated and analyzed.[Results]The male and female world age-standardized incidence of malignant tumors in Zhongshan in 2006 were 234.09/105 and 159.31/105 respectively.The top five high-incident cancers in Zhongshan in 2006 were lung,liver,nasopharyngeal,esophageal,and stomach cancer in male,and breast,lung,uterus body,nasopharynx and colon cancer in female.Male and female nasopharyngeal cancer were the top third and fouth cancer incidence tumors respectively,in Zhongshan in 2006.[Conclusions]The incidence of malignant tumors in Zhongshan in 2006 is at high level compared with other areas nationwide and worldwide,and displays increasing trend.It suggests that the cancer prevention and treatment in Zhongshan should be enhanced further.
