Correlation of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in Gastric Cancer and Its Relationship with Gastric Cancer Biological Behavior

Objective To detect the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in gastric neoplasm and its relationship with gastric cancer biological behavior.Methods The expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in 65 cases of gastric carcinoma and 20 cases of normal gastric mucosa specimens were observed by immunohistochemical method.Results The positive expression rate of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in gastric cancer tissue was 67.7%(44/65) and 72.3%(47/65),significantly higher than 15.0%(3/20) and 25.0%(5/20) in normal gastric mucosa tissues,the difference has statistical significance(χ2=17.178,14.411;P0.001).The positive rate of MMP-2 and MMP-9 has no correlation with age,gender,tumor size of patients(P0.05),but tumor infiltration depth and histological differentiation degree and lymph node metastasis and TNM staging of gastric cancer have significant correlation(P0.05).The MMP-2 and MMP-9 in gastric cancer tissue were positively correlated(P 0.001 and γ=0.001)by correlation analysis.Conclusion MMP-2 and MMP-9 expression in gastric cancer is significantly higher,may jointly participate in the occurrence and process of gastric cancer.
