Abstract
In order to further improve the properties of apatite-wollastonite(AW) bioglass bone cement, setting liquid of citric acid/phosphate with different compositions was used to synthesize AW glass bone cement(AW-GBC) by blending with solgel-derived AW bioglass powder. The crystal phase composition and microstructure were investigated using an X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electronic microscope(SEM).The influences of setting liquid composition on the setting time, bioactivity and mechanical properties of AW-GBC were investigated. The results show that the AW glass bone cement with citric acid/K2HPO4/KH2PO4 multiplex setting liquid attain higher compressive strength and induce more HA crystals after immersion in the simulated body fluid(SBF) for 7 d,which indicates that the multiplex setting liquid is more favorable for obtaining AW bioglass bone cement with higher bioactivity and mechanical properties.
