Abstract

Glass-based bone cement was prepared by mixing apatite-wollastonite glass ceramic powder with citric acid and kalium phosphate liquid. The crystal phase, chemical composition, microstructure and compressive strength were analyzed using X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and scanning electronic microscope(SEM) and omnipotence electronic intensity measuring instrument. Results indicated that certain amount of HA crystals formed in the glass-based bone cement after setting reaction, and a few CaCO3 crystals formed and the quantity of HA crystals increased with prolonging of immersion in the simulated body fluid(SBF).The compressive strength reached maximum on the 7th day.Additionally, the bone cement presents porous configuration.
