Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of nebivolol combined with valsartan in patients with essential hypertension. Methods Totally 98 patients with essential hypertension were randomly divided into a control group and a treatment group: patients in the control group received valsartan, and those in the treatment group got nebivolol combined with valsartan. The clinical efficacy and adverse reaction of the 2 groups were compared 2 months later. Results After 8 weeks, the total efficacy rate of the treatment group was 95.9% and that of the control group was 79.6%, with significant difference(P 0.05); The systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and resting heart rate of the treatment group were significantly lower than those of the control group, with significant difference(P 0.05); The blood pressure control rate of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P 0.05); The adverse reaction rate of the treatment group was 6.1% while that for the control group was 4.1%, with no significant difference between the 2 groups(P 0.05). Conclusion Nebivolol combined with valsartan for essential hypertension is safe and effective, which can be applied in clinical practice.
