Abstract

Objective To evaluate the relation between D/W ratio and fetal intrauterine anoxia. From detecting the depth(D) and width(W) of umbilical cord around the neck(UCAN) and calculating D/W ratio by Doppler ultrasonography. Methods The study included 342 fetuses with UCAN from 36th to 42th weeks of gestation. We calculated the fetal heart rate and umbilical artery blood flow parameter. The fetuses were tested by nonstress test(NST).We also observed the fetal Apgar score and the amniotic fluid after childbirth. Results The fetuses were divided into anoxia group and non-anoxia group according to NST Score.D/W ratio of anoxia group(0.39±0.08) was obviously less than that of the other group(0.55±0.09)(P0.01).There also was significant difference among the two groups when their umbilical artery blood flow parameter, abnormal fetal heart rate and the amniotic fluid were compared. Conclusion D/W ratio of UCAN detecting by ultrasonography can imply fetal intrauterine anoxia in time, and can provide strong help for clinical early diagnosis and timely treatment.
