Abstract

Objective:To explore the efficiency and side effects of risperidone combined with paroxetine in the treatment of schizophrenia mainly with negative symptoms. Method:Eighty cases of schizophrenia mainly with negative symptoms were randomly divided into combined group (treated with risperidone and paroxetine,n=40) and single group(treated with risperidone,n=40).The course of treatment was 12 weeks. The efficiency was evaluated by positive and negative symptoms scale (PANSS),and the side effects were evaluated by treatment emergent symptom scale (TESS). Results:The efficient rate of combined group was significantly higher than that of single group. The total score and negative symptoms score of PANSS were lower in combined group than in single group at the same period. No significant difference was found in TESS score between two groups. Conclusion:Risperidone combined with paroxetine has better efficacy and less side effects in the treatment of schizophrenia mainly with negative symptoms.
