The effect of psychological intervention on patients with rehabilitation and physical therapy after stroke

Abstract

Objective: To explore the psychological traits of patients with stroke and the effect of psychological intervention on patients with rehabilitation and physical therapy.Methods: Sixty cases of patients with stroke were grouped to the control group(received rehabilitation and physical therapy) and the therapy group(receiving the same as the control group and the psychological intervention).Both groups were assessed with symptom checklist 90(SCL90) to check the mental health status and Barthel index to check the activities of daily living.Results: No difference was found in the two groups assessed by SCL90 before therapy.After psychological intervention and rehabilitation and physical therapy,every factor of SCL90 was lower in the therapy group than that in the control group(P0.05).and Bartherl index was higher in the therapy group than that in the control group(P0.01).Conclusion: The psychological intervention is a useful method in the patients with stroke who received rehabilitation and physical therapy.
