Abstract
AIM:To observe the therapeutic effect of reduced glutathione and L-carnitine on acute viral myocarditis.METHODS:Seventy patients with viral myocarditis were randomly divided into therapy group and control group.Control group received routine treatment and therapy group received reduced glutathione and L-carnitine in addition to routine treatment.RESULTS:In the therapy group,69% of the cases recovered compared with 46% of the cases in the control group(P0.05).Heart function in the therapy group improved significantly compared with that in the control group(P0.05).No adverse effect in the therapy group was found.CONCLUSION:Reduced glutathione and L-carnitine combined with routine therapy is safe and effective in the treatment of viral myocarditis.
