EXPERIMENTAL OBSERVATION ON GERMICIDAL EFFICACY AND RELATED PROPERTIES OF A NEW-TYPE COMPOUND HYDROGEN PEROXIDE DISINFECTANT

Abstract

Objective To study the disinfection property of compound hydrogen peroxide disinfectant. Methods Suspension quantitative test and carrier quantitative test were used to carry out observation on germicidal efficacy and stability of this compound disinfectant. Results The killing logarithm values of both Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli in suspension exposed to the compound disinfectant solution containing hydrogen peroxide 4580 mg/L for 5 min were 5.00. The spores of Bacillus subtilis var. niger on carrier exposed to the compound disinfectant solution containing hydrogen peroxide 47.6 g/L for 90 min and the spores on contaminated teeth of hemostatic forceps exposed for 120 min could be killed completely. After the stock solution of the compound disinfectant in airtight packing was stored at 54℃ for 14 days or at room temperature for 1 year, its hydrogen peroxide content decreased by 5.78% and 16.38% in average respectively The stock solution of the compound disinfectant was essentially not corrosive to stainless steel and was corrosive to various degrees to the metals such as carbon steel, copper and aluminum. 50% (v/v) calf serum essentially did not interfere with the germicidal efficacy of the compound hydrogen peroxide disinfectant. Conclusion The compound hydrogen peroxide disinfectant has potent efficacy in killing both vegetative forms of bacteria and bacterial spores and is corrosive to common metals.
