Abstract
Objective To know the germicidal efficacy and physicochemical properties of a stable liquid peracetic acid. Methods Suspension quantitative germicidal test and physicochemical analysis method were used to carry out laboratory observation. Results The available content of the stable peracetic acid product attained 185 g/L.After storing at room temperature(25℃) for 12 months, its content decreased by 9.63% and its content was still ≥150 g/L after storing for 18 months. The killing logarithm values of Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in suspension exposed to the water solution containing 50 mg/L peracetic acid for 3 min and Staphylococcus aureus exposed for 5 min were 5.00.The killing logarithm value of Candida albicans in suspension exposed to the water solution containing 200 mg/L peracetic acid for 5 min was 4.00 and that of spores of Bacullus subtilis var.niger in suspension exposed to the water solution containing 500 mg/L peracetic acid for 8 min was 5.00. Conclusion The liquid peracetic acid is stable during storing and has good efficacy in killing vegetative forms of bacteria, fungi and bacterial spores.
