Abstract
Objective To study the relationship of the expression of VEGF-C and lymph node metastasis in breast carcinoma.Methods RT-PCR were used to detect the expression of VEGF-C in breast carcinoma. Results The expression of VEGF-C increased in breast carcinoma,VEGF-CmRNA was found in 62 of 90 cases,the positive rate was 68.9%;the positive expression rate of VEGF-C in breast carcinoma was higher in group with lymph node metastasis than that in group without lymph node metastasis,the difference was significant(P0.05);the positive expression rate of VEGF-C in breast carcinoma of clinical stageⅢandⅣwas higher than that of stageⅠandⅡ,the difference was significant(P0.01).There was no correlation among the positive expression rate of VEGF-C and age of patients, tumor size and histological type of tumor,the difference was not significant(P0.05).Conclusion VEGF-C overexpression in transcriptive and translational level is universal phenomenon in breast carcinoma. The higher expression of VEGF-C in breast carcinoma is closely correlated with lymph node metastasis and plays important role in lymph node metastasis and has important significance in interventing VEGF-C/VEGFR-3 signal regulation passageway,which becomes a new target in treating lymph node metastasis of breast carcinoma.
