Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationship between the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor-c (VEGF-C) and lymph node metastasis in breast carcinoma. Methods: 57 cases of paraffin-embedded breast carcinoma were stained with polyclonal antibodies of VEGF-C using S-P method. Results: There was a close correlation between lymph node metastasis and histopathological grading and vessel invasion. Out of 28 VEGF-C positive staining, the positive rate of lymph node metastasis was 20(71.43%), which was significant higher than that of no lymph node metastasis group (P0.05). Conclusion: The findings suggested that the expression of VEGF-C might be a useful marker for predicting the lymph node metastasis, and further to conclude the prognosis of breast carcinoma.
