Abstract
Objective: To study the apoptosis of Colo-16 cell line of squamous cell carcinoma induced by arsenic trioxide (As2O3) and probe into its clinical significance for the treatment of squamous cell carcinoma. Methods We investigated As2O3-induced apoptosis within Colo-16 cells by using MTT test flow cytometry in combination with fluorescent probes Annexin V-FITC and propidium iodide (PI) as well as DNA gel electrophoresis. Results The apoptosis of Colo-16 cells was induced at 0.004 mmol/L of As2O3 which depended on its concentration and the culture-duration. Conclusions As2O3 can induce the apoptosis of Colo-16 cells with the increase of its concentration and cultured-time.
