Abstract

Objective:To investigate the effects of 3 % oxydol on the prevention of dry socket caused by impacted mandibular molar extraction.Method:350 cases of impacted mandibular molar extracted were divided into two groups at random with 175 in each group. In the test group the socket was washed with 3 % oxydol after impacted mandibular molar extraction, but blank was in the control group.Result:Dry socket incidence rate in the test group and control group was 1.14 % and 6.29 %,respectively, with statistical significanct difference between them(P 0.05).Conclusion:The result demonstrates that washing the socket with 3 % oxydol after impacted mandibular molar extraction can efficiently prevent the occurrence of dry socket.
