Abstract

Objective:2-Dimensional Echocardiography (2DE) was used to observe the indexes changes in patients with myocardial infarction before and eight weeks after percutaneous coronary intervention and to explore the impact of PCI on left ventricular remodeling generated as a result of myocardial infarction. Methods:Twenty six patients who received percutaneous coronary intervention were enrolled in this study as PCI group(PCI) and twenty subjects without heart disease as normal control group(NC).The measurements of indexes were respectively completed one week before and eight weeks after PCI in PCI group, the corresponding indexes were also completed in NC group at certain time.By comparing the 2DE indexes derived from mycocardial infarction patients one week before and eight weeks after PCI and from normal controls, the impact of PCI on left ventricular remodeling was assessed.Results:2DE indexes LVEF,△D% were lower and LVDD,ESV,EDV,LVMI were higher in infarction group than that in NC group (P0.01 or P0.05);and the indexes LVEF,△D%,LVMI eight weeks after PCI improved but no significant difference was found;however ESV,EDV was significantly lower than before PCI(P0.05).Conclusion:PCI can stop or improve vicious circle elicited by reciprocal action between ischemia and systolic/diastolic dysfunction, terminate or slow remodeling and promote recovering of hibernating myocardium and therefore is a prosperous method for CHD treatment.
