Abstract
Objective To observe the indexes changes in patients with myocardial infarction before and six months after percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) with 2-dimensional echocardiography(2 DE) and to explore the impact of PCI on left ventricular remodeling generated as a result of myocardial infarction.Methods Twenty-seven patients who received PCI were enrolled in this study as PCI group and twenty-nine patients who did not receive PCI as control group.The measurements of indexes were respectively completed before PCI and six months after PCI in PCI group,the corresponding indexes were also completed in control group at same time.By comparing the 2 DE indexes before PCI and six months after PCI between two groups,the impact of PCI on left ventricular remodeling was assessed.Results There was no significant difference in 2 DE indexes between two groups before PCI.LVEF and FS were improved six months after PCI but no significant difference was found;however end-diastolic diameter and end-systolic diameter were significantly lower in PCI group than those in control group (P0.05).Conclusion Successful patency restoration of infarct-related arteries by PCI can improve systolic/diastolic dysfunction,terminate or slow remodeling and promote recovering of hibernating myocardium.
