Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and side effects of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) in AIDS patients in Harbin. Methods Standard antiretroviral drugs were free provided for the treatment of people living with HIV/ AIDS,and CD+4T lymphocyte counts and HIV viral loads were detected. Results In the first year of HAART,CD+4T lymphocyte counts increased by 241.61±148.02/μl on average. And HIV viral loads were below the minimum level. Conclusions Significant therapeutic efficacy and immune restoration are observed in advanced AIDS patients receiving HAART,but severe side effects are also present,so close clinical monitoring is essential.
