Abstract
Objective To explore the effectiveness of highly active antiretroviral therapy(HAART)and provide scientific basis for this therapy in the future. Methods Standard antiretroviral drugs were free provided for the treatment of people living with HIV/AIDS and HIV viral loads and CD+4T were determined among them. Results The viral load in the 98 AIDS cases receiving HAART for 12 months was determined, with an average viral load of 2.03±0.17 log 10 copies/ml.HIV was not detected in 53 AIDS cases after 24 month treatment, accounting for 58.24% of the total cases treated. The level of CD+4T increased to various extents in 98 AIDS cases ranging from 19/μl to 506/μl on average(197.27±51.71)/μl.The average level of CD+4T in those treated over a period of two years was(235.92±77.45)/μl.The opportunistic infection was apparently controlled and mortality rates were significantly reduced. The proportion of those who were able to engage in heavy physical work increased from 15.31% before the treatment to 32.65% after the treatment. Conclusion Significant effectiveness has been obtained in HAART and the life quality of the people living with HIV/AIDS was apparently improved. Thus standardardized antiretroviral therapy should be early provided for the people living with HIV/AIDS who meet the criteria of HAART.
