Abstract

Objective To investigate the imaging feature and diagnostic value of double inversion recovery(DIR) MR imaging in gray matter heterotopia.Materials and Methods The imaging manifestation of 9 cases with gray matter heterotopia were retrospectively analyzed with emphasis on the signal intensity on DIR sequense. Results According to the shape and location of lesion,9 cases were classified as:subcortical heterotopia(5 cases),paraventricular nodular heterotopia(2 cases) and subcortical band heterotopia(2 cases). On DIR imaging, cerebral gray matter and white matter demonstrated hyperintense and hypointense respectively, and heterotopic gray matter showed well-demarcated irregular hyperintense, similar to cerebral cortex and gray matter nuclei. Conclusion DIR can selectively suppress cerebrospinal fluid and white matter, and obtain images that show superior delineation of gray matter.DIR MR imaging can be valuable for the diagnosis of gray matter heterotopia.
