Abstract
The stability analysis of high fill subgrade during construction and operation is one of the important issues in subgrade engineering. The solution of high fill subgrade settlement and stability or not will be the key of highway safety and moving. For the construction of subgrade on flat ground, especially with height less than 20 m,a clearer understanding of the characteristics is made and the corresponding design specifications are given. However, for the high subgrade with height greater than 20 m,it is not enough to fully understand. Therefore, the in-depth understanding of engineering characteristics of high fill subgrade becomes one of the key issues need to be resolved to ensure the stability of high subgrade of mountain highway.Based on this, intense weathered fill of the new expressway is studied in this paper and the stability of the high fill subgrade is analyzed in detail after in-depth study of strength characteristics of filling. The results show that stability of the original high fill subgrade can not meet the requirements, and the subgrade has enough stability to meet the requirements after the design changes. It has important applying value for subgrade engineering.
