Abstract

Objective:To observe the effects of Hazel's flower on decreasing blood sugar and clarify its mechanisms. Methods:By the experimental mouse model of diabetes induced by alloxan,by the methods of control, the blood sugar, activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD) of serum, amount of malondialdehyde(MDA) of serum were measured and hepatic glycogen and pancreas islet B cell were observed. Results: The Hazel's flower decreased the level of the blood sugar and the amount of MDA,and increased the activity of SOD and the contents of hepatic glycogen, but did not make the pancreas islet B cell repaired and regenerate. Conclusion:The Hazel's flower had the effect of decreasig blood sugar on diabetic mouse induced by alloxan. Its mechanism of decreasing blood sugar may be the insulin kind function of promoting synthesis of hepatic glycogen etc, clearancing free radicals and process of anti-lipid peroxidation.
