Study on expression and clinical significance of NF-κBp65 in colorectal cancer

Objective To study the expression of nuclear transcription factor-κBp65 (NF-κBp65) in human colorectal cancer and its relationship to clinical pathologic feature.Methods The expression of eIF4E in 60 cases with colorectal cancer was examined by immunohistochemical assay.Results The positive rates of NF-κBp65 in the colorectal cancer tissues and the normal tissues of adjacent to cancer were 65% and 20%,respectively.Compared colorectal cancer tissue with the normal tissue of adjacent to cancer,there was a significance difference (P0.05).The positive expression was associated with histological differentiation,invasiveness depth,lymph node metastasis and Dukes' stage,but no relation to patients' gender,age,profession,family history,location of cancer,tumor size.There were difference of recurrence and metastasis between patients with positive expression and negative ones who had radical resection.Conclusion NF-κBp65 may play an essential role in colorectal carcinogenesis and may be a good marker for predicting invasion,metastasis and prognosis of colorectal cancer.
