Abstract
Deixis is a key part of pragmatics studies.The first-person deixis is seemingly simple,but actually complicated.Its usage and pragmatics functions vary due to the cultural differences between Chinese and Eng-lish as well as difference in situation,purpose of communication,interpersonal relations,etc.The article takes up discussions on the usages and pragmatic functions of the first-person deixis in pragmatics perspective with the view to revealing person deixis’commonness and difference between Chinese and English in pragmatics.
