The First Person Deixis from the Perspective of Comparative Pragmatics

Abstract

This paper explores the detailed usage of the first person deixis in different languages in terms of Markedness Theory.The unmarked usage of the first person deixis might be present in different languages,but the marked usage of the first person deixis in different languages will produce different pragmatic effects.Therefore,comparing the first person deixis in different languages will help avoid intercultural communication failure.
