Abstract
SSCI and A﹠HCI are the most influential citation index databases in the world, and the convenient tools for academic evaluation of the research results in social sciences, arts and humanities. However, there exist two obvious limitations in SSCI and A﹠HCI.One is the fact that most journals selected in the two databases are English ones;the other is that the evaluation function mainly relies on the quantitative data concerning citation.Undoubtedly, the application of SSCI and A﹠HCI in the Science Evaluation System of China is beneficial to the internationalization of Chinese social sciences, art and humanities.Nevertheless,it should be pointed out that it is necessary to make substantial analysis of journals and their literature contents selected by SSCI and A﹠HCI while using the two databases in academic evaluation.
