Abstract
Based on the present situation of water quality investigation and prediction of pollution sources, the 2-D steady-state water quality model was adopted for prediction of the length of polluted belts caused by pollutants discharged from various outlets into the river. In combination with the relationships between the quantity of pollutants from each discharge outlet, the length of polluted belts, and the objective of water quality protection of each functional region, a comparative analysis was made of some alternatives for water pollution control, so as to determine a reasonable objective for the control of the total amount of pollutants discharged into each control unit and to formulate a water pollution control scheme.
